Manufacturing/Process Engineer – Clearfield, UT (Full-Time)

General Summary

ES3 is currently recruiting a Manufacturing and Process Engineer to support our Manufacturing and Special Processes at our Materials Research and Development Center (MRDC) located in Clearfield, Utah. The accepted candidate will have a solid understanding of Machining, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Plating, and Coating Processes for aluminum and steel components. Also, the candidate must have strong communication skills to work with current and potential customers. The position requires engineering support to accomplish projects of a major degree of difficulty and scope with recurring unusual and complex features. These features include fixture design, drafting, project management, process engineering, and problem solving. The successful candidate will have knowledge of GD&T requirements and is comfortable working in an ISO9001:2015/AS9100D environment.  ES3 rewards staff members who are responsible, professional and have an excellent work ethic. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program/Process Management.
    Model and design components and/or fixtures for various programs.
  • Job traveler creation.
  • Assist in the purchasing of materials.
  • Creation of Technical Orders, Process Orders, and Work Instructions.
  • Quoting and initial design concept.
  • Coordinating Machining, Flame Spray, NDT, and Plating Processes. 

Education / Experience

  • B.S. in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college. Master’s Degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of aerospace industry experience.
  • Functional knowledge in laboratory analytical methods.
  • Functional knowledge of AMS and SAE International standards.
  • High Level Project Management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with machine tool operations. 
  • Proficient using CAM software, preferably Mastercam software for programming complex Aerospace components.
  • Fully proficient in creating Fixture and Drawing Designs using CAD software, preferably Solidworks.
  • Extensive knowledge of Manual and CNC Mills, Lathes, Grinders, Hones, and other Manufacturing Equipment.
  • Solid Understanding of Welding, Assembly, and Testing of Metal Fixturing.
  • Experience with creating procedures and work instructions for new and existing processes.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, adhere to written procedures and experience with ISO/AS9100 requirements, standards, and compliance issues.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of engineering prints including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
  • Must be an expert at machine tool setup and tool selection.

Work Environment

ES3 Manufacturing facility is an ISO9001 and AS9100D certified shop. We maintain a professional clean working environment for all our employees. All tools, fixturing, and equipment necessary to complete tasks are provided by the company. The buildings have recently been renovated with LED lighting, heating, and central air conditioning. We desire an employee that works well with others and provides an exceptional finished product for our customers. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Thursday 9-hour days, every other Friday off, 8 hours on the working Friday. General working hours are 6 AM – 3:30 PM. 

Other Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates will be required to participate in a background investigation and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • A programming test will be required prior to being hired
