Material Research & Development Center
ES3's Material Research and Development Center (MRDC) is a 32,000
square foot facility in Clearfield Utah specializing in engineered
surface technologies, metallurgical lab analysis, corrosion,
materials-mechanical and hydraulic testing in addition to high
precision fixture fabrication and CNC grinding.
The General Manager of the ES3 MRDC facility is Richard Vander Straten
who oversees all test, development, and production efforts. Richard and his staff provide unique surface solutions to
both military and commercial customers. Our group of specialists provides engineered surfaces and masking solutions to a
broad industrial base. How can we help you?
The MRDC Facility includes:
- Sate of the art thermal spray booth with 7 axis robot
- Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)-I.D. magnetron sputtering
- Full metallurgical lab
- ISO 9001:2008 certified, AS9100B compliant
- CNC fabrication, grinding, superfinishing
- Custom welding, bending
- Engineering design, structural-mechanical material testing
- Environmental compliance with California Air Quality Standards
This ES3 facility also includes a metallurgical laboratory with
capabilities which include evaluating cross sectional micro-structure
and performing other mechanical destructive tests, including ASTM
corrosion studies.

By Car:
Take I-80 eastbound towards City Center/Ogden/Provo, then take exit 117 I-215 northbound towards Ogden. Merge onto I-15 as soon as possible (after about 6.4 miles). Continue on I-15 north bound to Exit 338 (Antelope Dr.). after exiting, turn left (west) on to Antelope Drive. Then turn right (north) onto 3rd street/300West. ES3's Material Research and Development Center will be on your right (see google map).
