CNC Machinist/Programming/Fabrication Specialist - Clearfield, UT (Part-Time As-Needed-Basis)

General Summary

ES3 is currently recruiting a CNC Machinist/Programming/Fabrication Specialist to support multiple programs and long term growth at our Materials Research and Development Center (MRDC) located in Clearfield, Utah. The position will require writing simple to complex programs on CNC Lathes, Mills and Grinders using software systems such as Mastercam. The position also requires the incumbent to be skilled at setting up and operating both conventional and CNC Lathes, Mills, and/or other machines used for cutting, drilling, bending, and boring to produce precision metal parts and fixtures as specified on travelers, blueprints, drawing, templates or layout. The successful candidate will be proficient at GD&T, capable of thriving in an ISO/AS 9100 environment, be responsible and professional.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must be able to understand and read engineering prints including geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Reviews and interprets engineering drawings, illustrations, and written/verbal correspondence to plan the fabrication sequence to fabricate parts to close tolerance specifications in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to operate NC and CNC 3 - 5 axis mills. This includes programming simple to complex projects, set up of tools and materials.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometer, height gauges, etc.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Must be able to apply knowledge and appreciation of ISO/AS9100 Quality systems.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Fully capable on manual and CNC Lathe, 3 Jaw, 4 Jaw, OD, ID, threading, and gaging.
  • Fully capable on manual and CNC Mill practices.
  • Proficient with MasterCam software and has at least 3 years experience programming complex projects.
  • OD and Surface grinding capability
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, adhere to written procedures and experience with ISO/AS9100 requirements, standards, and compliance issues
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of staff, customers, and government representatives

Education and Experience Required

  • High School Diploma and typically requires an Associate's degree and/or 2 years Technical/Trade school training or equivalent
  • Preferred extensive OJT training, Technical Programs, Certifications specifically for advanced Mastercam programming.
  • 10+ years hands-on-experience in all machine tool operations. Trade school or specific education can be contributed towards the 10+ years required experience.

Aircraft Technician - Warner Robins, GA (Full-Time)

General Summary

Under direct supervision of Southeast Operations Director/Aircraft Systems Manager, the Aircraft Technician will be responsible for day-to-day operational project activities and maintenance technician tasks for Robins Air Force Base. Responsible for on-time delivery to customers executing production schedules as well as communicating with operators, management and engineering. Perform specialized Technician duties to include hands on aircraft maintenance and operating machinery. Work with Engineering and Technicians to identify and establish process improvements, cost reductions, time standards, technical manuals and repair and overhaul of aircraft and their components, including avionics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop manuals and accomplish repair and overhaul (airframe, powerplant and avionics disciplines) aircraft technician activities related to U.S. Air Force aircraft, including vertical lift aircraft. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to fabricate, assemble, and install prototype equipment on a large variety of aircraft, ranging from single-engine airplanes to complex, multi-engine turbojets, and helicopters.
  • Must be familiar with military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blue prints.
  • Must have ability to make modifications to existing airframes.
  • Coordinates with project engineer personnel throughout the project, and provide technical assistance to project engineers, contractors and factory representatives.
  • Must perform sheet metal repairs to a variety of aircraft, possess an in-depth knowledge of sheet metal materials and repair techniques.
  • Must use tools and equipment associated with a sheet metal shop, such as protractors, calipers, pitch gauges, crimping tools/machines, forming machines, gas and heli-arc welding machines, lathes, milling machines, saws and drilling presses.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and rudimentary drawings.
  • May be required to accompany aircraft on project flights away from the work site and perform aircraft maintenance at various locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Military aircraft repair and overhaul as listed under essential duties and responsibilities.
  • C-5, C-130, F-15, C-17, UH-1 and HH-60 aircraft experience is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Word).
  • SGML and/or XML authoring is a plus.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interact with customer levels and all management levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Fabricate parts and accomplish repair and overhaul (airframe and powerplant disciplines) aircraft plating technician activities related to U.S. Air Force aircraft, including vertical lift aircraft. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate plating line equipment and associated processing (grit blast, cleaning, plating, waste water treatment, spin dryer, relief bake oven equipment, etc), including set up and handling of barrel and rack plated parts and fasteners.
  • Use tools and equipment associated with an electroplating production shop for both rack and barrel plating operations. This includes usage of protractors, calipers, pitch gauges, etc.
  • Hold close tolerances, including set up of tools and materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and rudimentary drawings.
  • Complete tasks by working from military and/or commercial aircraft technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blue prints.
  • Coordinates with project engineer personnel throughout project and provide technical assistance to project engineers, contractors and factory representatives.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Apply knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100C Quality systems.

  • Knowledgeable in the use of associated personal protective equipment.

Welder - Clearfield, UT (Full-Time)

General Summary

ES3 is seeking a Welder to perform fitting, cutting, welding, and soldering metal components made from various alloys such as: aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel and lead. Fabricates or repairs products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, weld and manufacture conformal anode fixtures for use in plating operations.
  • Cut, position, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders.
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings with standard tolerance designations.
  • Lay out and mark points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates, and calipers.
  • Weld metal parts together, using both gas welding, brazing, soldering and any combination of MIG and TIG processes.
  • Perform related tasks such as oxy-acetylene or plasma cutting, grinding, and soldering.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications using micrometers or calipers.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • May be trained to do prototype plating on landing gear parts as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Trade School, Apprenticeship program, Military School, or On the Job Training Program in Fabrication and/or Welding.
  • 3-7 years of related experience, Aerospace Industry a plus.
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of all materials used in repair of Aircraft and their components a plus.
  • Able to read weld/assembly blueprints with an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance callouts.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal pattern layout, geometry, and other necessary mathematics.
  • Knowledge and workability, content and chemical properties of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Able to weld ferrous and non ferrous materials, corrosion resistant steels, copper, monel, lead, brass or their alloys, in various sizes and shapes in overhaul, modification, repair and fabrication.

  • Weld all assemblies into completed components using correct welding processes.

Aircraft Maintenance - Clearfield, UT (Full-Time)

ES3 is looking for Mechanics experienced in Aircraft Structural Repairs. Our initial focus will be on F-16 Aircraft Repair and F-16 Wing Overhaul. We will perform Wing Overhaul work in our Clearfield, Utah facility. We also anticipate sending field teams world-wide to work on Aircraft. The Mechanics could be dedicated to the In-House Overhaul or the Field Team Work or a combination of both. Mechanics that choose to only perform Field Team Work would be able to travel from wherever they currently reside to the work site.

ES3 is not currently hiring Mechanics at this time. We are only trying to locate a pool of potential applicants.
